A few pictures from the Karate Nationals during the Thanksgiving long weekend. It was an awesome tournament and it was great to watch! Makes me really miss training. Congrats to the entire Alberta team that really cleaned up!

Since we will be going on a Family vacation to Antigua in November we thought it would be a good idea to put the kids in swim classes and them really comfortable in the water. Here are some pictures from one of Emerson's swim classes with Travis. Alyssa in typical 3yr old fashion will not yet let me take pics of her in class. Emer is the only boy in his class and Aly is the only girl. Alyssa is now in a class that she does on her own with the teacher and she's done pretty well. Emerson is still shy of his teacher and looks away everytime he talks to him but he will give him high fives.

Not happy about going under water but ok with highfiving the instructor :)

Alyssa is now 3 1/2 where has the time gone? She's an amazing kid and a lot of fun to be around. She is definately in her terrifying threes. She's extreamly opionated and stubborn, which comes from Trav and I in spades- haha. I have some really interesting conversations with her now about things that she thinks about and her imagination games, no imaginary friends but that may come.
She is loving preschool and talks about all the games and things she plays. Still no friends she plays with, the teachers tell me she shares but she's really quiet and they've asked me if she's enjoying school. One of her teachers Miss Monika told me how they were doing their fire drill one afternoon and all the kids were told to not get their jackets as it was important to head straight outside in an emergency. Miss Monika said Aly was listening too well because she took off her hoodie that she had worn over her tshirt so she could leave it behind in the classroom. Miss Monika thought it was so adorable but explained to Aly after that they meant the kids big jackets that they hang up and if she was already wearing a hoodie or sweater she could just keep it on. I hope that she gets more friendly with some of the other kids, I may try to do a playdate every couple of weeks to help her become more familiar with her classmates. We'll see. We're happy that she is loving it so much and she'll get more chatty with others in her own time :)
Alyssa's favorite books right now are Fancy Nancy- about a little girl who likes things to be fancy and uses big fancy words. I got her the two newest books as a surprise to read on the plane in a couple of weeks. She also loves Jillian Jiggs, Curious George, Dr. Seuss, Scaredy Squirrel, Dora, and Franklin. Favorite shows right now are of course Dora and Diego, Strawberry Shortcake and Franny's Feet- about a little girl who tries on different shoes and travels to different places and times.
Our boy E is growing so fast! At 21 months he is full of mischief and has no fear! He has had more falls, bumps scrapes etc. It doesn't help that his favorite thing is to climb things and jump off of them! I think that in January we're going to enroll him in gymnastics because he needs an outlet for his acrobatic abilities. This is perhaps our favorite Emersonism even though its not a word or phrase he uses. When we give each other a thumbs up this is what E does- he sticks his two pointer fingers up. Its hilarious and so cute!

E has definately entered the terrible twos. He knows what he wants when he wants it which is now. Most of the time he does well sharing but has figured out that he can go after his sister. We are trying to discourage the fights but it goes both ways, he also has enough words that he can tell on Aly when she hits him or takes things away so she's not able to get away with as much. Emerson calls Alyssa "Ada" which he usually yells and puts both his hands on the sides of his cheeks. He loves to give her hugs and kisses but doesn't like to be bossed around as much as he use to. His favorite books right now are Brown Bear, Polar Bear and Panda Bear by Eric Carl. We also read about animals, cars, trucks, and construction equipment. Emerson LOVES little Einsteins about the a group of kids that go on adventures. I really like this series since they have a classical piece of music, art and history in each adventure. He is also a fan of Diego, Dora and Mickey Mouse.
