Alyssa's Birthday- Eating Cupcakes

Instead of having a birthday cake we chose to make cupcakes and let everyone put icing and M & M's on top.
Alyssa had tried to take a bite out of it right away and got icing on her nose- cutie. I then broke it in half so she could get down to some serious eating.

Yum!

Alyssa stuffing her face full of the last big bite of her cupcake, LOL! she washed it all down with a few big gulps of milk.

Alyssa's Birthday- Playing at the Park

Daddy and Aly getting ready to go down the slide, in all the excitement Alyssa's shoe came off so Travis had to put it back on while Aly squirmed to get going.
Alyssa loves the swings, she usually heads straight for them whenever we're at the park.

The swings are full of little friends having
fun.

Baking Cupcakes

Alyssa is peeking in the oven to check on her cupcakes. They sure look yummy!

Double checking that we got all the ingredients and the baking time correct.

Alyssa plotting how she can do a taste test of the cupcake batter.

One Year Ago

Alyssa Avery Head born May, 21st 2006 9:42am weighing 6lbs 1 oz
Today Alyssa turned one whole year old! This has been the craziest and best year of our lives. We are so happy to have been blessed with a healthy and endlessly entertaining daughter.
Stay Tuned for more pictures because this past weekend we had a birthday bash for our darling girl and had many friends and family join us for some play time at the park and yummy cupcakes at the house.

Harry James Grimwood-Knight

Meet our newest Cousin! Harry James was born on Wednesday May 9th. He was 7lbs and 9 oz, is 19 inches long and Adorable!
Check out Jenny's blog Gingersnap (on the left) to see some more pictures.

Alyssa and I went over last Monday to meet him for the first time and visit with the super proud Daddy & Mommy. Being cute is hard work, here is Harry having a big yawn.

Uncle Peter (the proud Daddy) and Harry.

Me holding Harry. It is hard to believe that Alyssa was that small just a year ago!

Alyssa meeting Harry. She's not too sure what to think of him (hey, that's not a dolly!) it is the first time she has met a brand new baby at her age.

Mother's Day Craft

I stole Carley's idea. Check out her blog (The Mak Family) she made a tile and used Olivia's feet to make a butterfly- super cute. I decided this would be a great idea to make for Mother's Day. Yay for non-toxic washable paint :

I let the girls choose what base colour they wanted their butterflies to be.

Alyssa had to touch her feet after I was done washing the paint off. She has super sensitive ticklish feet just like her Daddy, so doing this craft was a bit of an experiment.

Cute little feet :)

Tada! The finished product, little butterflies. They turned out quite well. This would be fun to do every year.

Hanging Out At the Park

Wheeee!

One... Two... Three...

I'm Ready!
Alyssa saw some of the other kids climbing slides so she decided to give it a try.

Grandma Eileen's Birthday

A week ago Sunday we went over to Uncle Dax and Auntie Kyla's for dinner to celebrate Grandma Eileen's birthday. Alyssa loves being outside and had fun trying to grab at the leaves on the trees.

Alyssa being cheeky to Uncle Dax while he took a few pictures of her.

Messy face, trying Hummus for the first time

Checking out the texture of the hummus that I put on Aly's rice cracker.

Super cute picture taken by Auntie Kyla.
Sugar and Spice and everthing nice, this is what our little girl is made of.

Nose Hill Park

Such a cute picture of Alyssa sitting among the flowers. She picked a few and even tried to eat one. I love watching her explore when she is outside, she is endlessly fascinated by the grass, bugs, birds, clouds and anything else she that passes by.

Alyssa loves to walk and it was pretty funny to watch her try and move on uneven ground. She was very determined though.

Aly all strapped in her backpack. This was the maiden voyage and she had so much fun being able to see all around her. It is going to be great during our summer holidays, we'll be able to go everywhere and pack Alyssa along.

The Crocus' are just beautiful! We weren't sure how many we'd see but there were plenty still out and many more just peeping out from under the grass.

Last year when I was pregnant with Alyssa I was up on Nose Hill almost every day for a walk with my parents and the dogs Achilles and Abe.
Since it was such a beautiful afternoon on Sunday my Mom and I took Alyssa up for her first hike of the year up on Nose Hill.

New Set of Wheels

We have a wagon! This is a state of the art super cool wagon by Fisher Price. It folds all in to itself and is quite compact. With another 1 yr old starting in the day home soon it was important that we got some good transporation. This has been fantastic for going to the park, and I know this will be just fabulous when taking the kids to the zoo.

Since its been raining out this week, outside time has been crippled but that didn't stop the girls from having a pretend ride.

My adorable Alyssa blowing kisses. Its the "new" thing. This week has been full of kisses and clapping :)

Trading Up!

Alyssa got a new car seat last weekend. She hasn't travelled in it anywhere but i'm sure her first trip will be memorable. I think that Aly will have a lot of fun facing the front and being able to see more of what is going on around her.

Walking Alone

It started last week. On Saturday Alyssa cleared the living room, walked from the T.V to Daddy on the couch. Since then she has decided that walking is the way to get around. In the last week Aly has practised so much that she can go from the living room to the play room. Its incredible, she'll be running in no time!
This pic is funny, Alyssa is very mad at me because I kept backing up in order to get a picture of her walking on her own. She loves to look at the pictures on the camera so its difficult to get good shots of her right now.
