Letters to Santa. On Thursday Alyssa dictated her and Emerson's letter to me and then Aly signed her name and they both coloured their letters and envelopes to make them fancy. (Alyssa loves the stories about Fancy Nancy who is a little girl that makes everything fancy and helps her family and friends be more fancy too, really cute stories!)

December came so quickly, being away in November threw us off and it took awhile to get back to normal. The first week of December we slowly started bringing out Christmas decorations, movies, books etc. On Dec.6th we set up our tree and the kids were really good helpers putting ornaments on the tree.
With all the snow and cold weather Teagan and Alyssa have had to really bundle up to play outside. I let them go outside when the smaller kids are having nap time because a few of them are just too small to handle the weather conditions.
That Friday of the really big snowfall and insane road conditions it took Travis 7hrs to get home from work. He got stuck and had to abandon the car for several hours and hang out at his boss' house. This pic is of Emerson watching Travis dig us and the vehicles out, he literally opened the door and had to start digging we had such big snowdrifts in front of our house from the wind. The kids climber in the back was completely covered!
Our dancing penguins and snowman.
Nutcracker.
Alyssa's Christmas artwork from preschool.
Our snowman wreath on the front door speckled with blowing snow makes it really feel like winter and Christmas.
Knee deep snow.
Couldn't see out the playroom windows.
Santa on the inside of our door.

Our advent calendar that the kids take turns opening. Each box has a wooden ornament that gets hung on the trees behind. The snowglobe plays Santa Claus is coming to town and the music on the piano is We Wish You A Merry Christmas. I've been learning to play that one and Jingle bells because those are a couple of the songs Aly's singing at her Christmas concert next week.

Day 8

Saturday November 14th
After breakfast we played in the pool one last time and then had to pack up all our gear and check-out. While we waited for our taxi to the airport the kids played hide and seek and Alyssa accidentaly pulled her brother into a tree but he wasn't hurt much.

Our plane taking us away from Antigua. We had such a fantastic vacation and it was hard to leave but we were looking forward to being home. The kids did excellent on both plane trips home and slept most of the time. Nana and Grandpa Jack picked us up and we were home just after 1am, the kids crashed just after 3am.

Day 7

Friday November 13th
Last full day in Antigua. Like usual after breakfast we hung out on the beach. We went swimming a bit but there were some jellyfish in the morning and then a tonne of jellies in the afternoon and evening. Travis attempted to do some snorkling but decided against it after seeing some jellyfish as big as his head!

Our room from the beach.
The Pinapple block of rooms.

Brown Pelican fishing in the Ocean. It was awesome to see it flying around overhead and then diving straight into the water, we could see it throw its head back to swallow the fish.

The kids burying my feet in sand.
Running on the beach.
Building sandcastles.

Cute little feet.
Jellyfish washing up on the beach.

Seaweed moustaches :)

Aly pretending to sleep at dinner.
Friday night was Travis' night to put the kids to bed so I could hangout with our friends. Carol and I have a few drinks together and had a great time :)

Day 6

Thursday November 12th- Happy Birthday Travis!
After breakfast we headed to Mamora beach and took the kids kayaking.

Thanks to Tyler who took pics of us out on the water.

We really enjoyed our time on the beaches the resort was very quiet and uncrowded it was wonderful!

Wedding

Kevin and Joanna's wedding happened on Thursday afternoon and the weather was sunny, a bit breezy just beautiful. The gazebo they got married in was overlooking the ocean and covered in fresh cut flowers, it was lovely.
Please excuse the order of the photos for some reason it wouldn't put them in the order I wanted and I didn't want to fight with it so enjoy :)
The kids and I went to Joanna's room to take some pictures of Joanna getting ready.

Alyssa LOVED her flower girl basket. Its a hand woven basket from palm leaves.

Getting ready to walk down the aisle.
The dashing and adorable ring bearer who is giving me the eyebrow raise, what a spitting image of Travis!

Here comes the bride.
Such a great picture of Travis and Alyssa together.
The gang at dinner. Travis, Alyssa, Simon, Graham, Tyler, Carol, Emerson and I. Missing from the photo is Allan who took our pic.

Emerson pulling the flowers off of the aisle decor being so gentle and then smashing, tearing and stomping on them. What a boy!
All the ladies.
\The boys: Tyler, Simon, Allan, Stephen, Kevin, Graham and Travis.
Mr and Mrs d'Abadie.
Aly, Carol and I.

Emerson was exhausted and really grumpy so I had to take him back to our room before the dancing started. He loves balloons so we had to bring a couple back and he held onto them until he fell asleep.

It was a wonderful wedding and Travis and I feel so blessed to have such amazing friends to share these moments with.

Day 5

Day 5: Wednesday November 11th
Beautiful Sunrise on the Atlantic Ocean, I was sitting on the deck of our walkout.

The first time we saw one of these Mongoose Alyssa said "Mommy! there are otters here!"
Being silly at breakfast.
Emerson trying to copy his big sis.
The restaurants are all open so we had quite a good time bird watching. There were always a few flying around and the kids enjoyed keeping an eye out, spotting them and inviting them to come closer to have breakfast with us.
Rainbow Room Restaurant and courtyard leading to the pool.
The main pool we spent our time in.
Travis the kids and I along with Allan, Simon and Stephen took a taxi down into the town of Saint John's from 9-12 to take a look around and do a little shopping.
The cruise ships in port.
Aly checking out diamonds :)
Stephen, Simon and Allan.

The kids playing their steel drums.

Allan trying on Stephen's Rasta hat.
Alyssa clapping at all the boys for wearing the hat.
Emerson was a good sport and wore the Rasta hat for some pics.
Emerson trying to give Stephen thumbs up but he still does his pointer fingers. haha.
Views from Cocoa Beach restaurant

Alyssa and Emerson waiting to go to Saint John's and me trying to get them to sit and let me take a picture :)
After Saint John's we had lunch at Cocoa's Restaurant and I took the kids for a nap. After we played in the main pool and then had dinner at the Dockside. Emerson had been a complete grouch at dinner so I took him back first and Travis followed with Aly after she was done dessert. In our room Emerson decided to try and climb the set of drawers bringing the entire thing down breaking the lamp and smashing a glass, E was fine just scared. It was a crappy end to a good day- Travis and I went to sleep early too so we could get a fresh start for the next day.

Day 3 & 4

Day 3: Monday November 9th
This morning Travis was feeling much better and joined us for breakfast at the Rainbow room. Afterwards we headed to Mamora beach for some beach combing and swimming. Mamora beach is situated in a bay so the water is very calm which was great for the kids but there is no breeze like Cocoa so it can get very hot. This morning was perfect because it was overcast and we had a nice enjoyable temperature.

Alyssa wrote her name in the sand but wouldn't let me take a picture of it.

It began to rain so we headed in to play in our room and then the kids had a long nap and slept through lunch. I took them to the grill on Mamora beach for some hotdogs and then we headed back to Cocoa beach to play and Travis and I did some snorkeling with Kevin. I'm not as comfortable as they are so I didn't go out as far but I still got to see lots of different fish. Cocoa beach was the best to snorkel because the water off of Mamora was too murkey.

Emerson with a mouth full of sand. Too crabs "hugging"
The waterfall pool which the kids thought was so cool but it was too cool to swim in for them.

After the beach and checking out the pools we decided to spend time at the main pool by the Rainbow room restaurant. Alyssa and Emerson love to swim and we're really glad we put them in swim classes before we came, they were really comfortable in the Ocean and pool.
Aly trying to swim away.
Cooling off in the Pool.

Emerson spent the majority of the time kicking the beach ball into the pool.
Alyssa was very helpful bringing Travis and I our daquiris so we could enjoy a bevi during our swim time.
Dinner that night was at the fancy Piccolo Mondo restaurant and I tried to get Aly's hair into ringlets. She was very patient while I put in the Spoodles but did not want her hair to be dried with the blowdrier so we couldn't get the curl.
Emerson looking handsome in his gecko shirt.
Alyssa in her pretty yellow dress, we ended up just clipping her hair back.
Our little family at dinner.
Graham and Travis
Carol and Tyler
Travis, Stephen, Allan, Simon, Kevin, Graham, Joanna, Carol,

Up close Travis and his rockin' Moustache- all the boys grew one till before the wedding.
Alyssa and Uncle Al.
Emerson saying "cheese" with a mouth full of carrots :)
The food was good but dinner was slow because there were so many of us. The kids slept- Emerson right on me and we pushed two chairs together for Aly to take a nap on. Aly went and sat down by Simon and Graham and had some icecream for dessert. The kids were restless sleepers all night.

Day 4: Tuesday November 10th
We had planned to go on a boat cruise touring the Island and do some snorkeling. Unfortunately it was raining cats and dogs, we headed down to Jolly Harbour anyway in hopes that it would let up and we'd be able to go but it didn't so we headed back to the resort.

We had some lunch and played in our room and watched some TV and the kids napped. After the nap it had stopped raining and we played on Cocoa beach until sunset collecting more shells and running away from waves. We had dinner at the Dockside restaurant and everyone slept well that night.

Can you believe I didn't take any pictures- GASP! Don't worry I made up for it in the days to come.

Antigua Trip Day 1 & 2

Day 1: Saturday November 7th
Not too much to say about the first day since it was mainly all travel. Our flight left Calgary at 00:25 the kids did quite well. Emerson made a bit of a fuss while he was trying to stretch out while sleeping (he didn't have a seat and sat on me and Travis occasionally) We arrived in Toronto at 6am and had a 4hr layover that went by fairly quickly, the kids played and had snacks. Emerson was horsing around, fell and got stuck in between a couple of seats and ended up with a big bruise on his cheek and a little goose egg on the side of his head.
The second flight was better and both Aly and Emer slept well. We had to exit our plane right on the runway which both of the kids liked because we got to see our plane and several others up close. Customs took a while but we had some banana bread to snack on and the kids were happy to be able to move around so they were well behaved. We had a tonne of bags and we brought the wagon down too so they stuffed us into a van/taxi and we were off. Travis and I are very glad that we did not rent a vehicle or bring the kid's car seats along as the taxi did not have any seatbelts, they drive like maniacs, there are no speed limits posted, minimal street signs so unless your a local you'd have no clue as to where you were going. Antigua roads are small, the size of one of our lanes is two way traffic- scary! I admit that I was white knuckled most of the drive, and very happy when we finally arrived after a half hour.
By the time we got to our resort it was all ready dark out, had a quick dinner and then to our room to, at first we were disappointed that we were no where near anyone else. Our room was in the Pinapple complex on the opposite end of everyone but we were pleasantly surprised to find that we had a walkout right onto the beach! They had put in a cot and a crib too, which was a nice thought even though Emer hasn't been in a crib for over 6 months (he's so big now) Our bathroom was huge and the tub would have fit all of us in it, we never ended up testing that out- way too hot for a bath and just so much quicker to shower with the kids. The kids and I got settled, read some stories and went to sleep.
Travis went out drinking with the gang and was delivered in the wee hours of the morning....there's more to that story and it will be told again and again over the years with our friends, its one of THOSE kind of stories :)
Day 2: Sunday November 8th
The kids had a very good sleep, they woke up a bit disoriented but in great moods so we set out for breakfast and to explore the resort. We let Travis sleep in until just before lunch time.

We were very lucky to have been upgraded and our hotel room walked out right to Cocoa beach on the Atlantic Ocean.

Aly got her haircut on the Friday before we left. I think it looks so cute! Here she is still a bit sleepy and stunned to see the beach and ocean in front of her.
Geckos!

Emerson wasn't too sure about the waves at first.
Emerson and Alyssa's first time at the Ocean.

Cocoa Beach

Emerson loved throwing the sand and seaweed into the water. He has sand Everywhere!

Hunting for treasures. Our kids loved the cool rocks and seashells.
The beautiful flowers.

Emerson being silly at lunch.
Tree lizard below.
Mamora beach. The other beach on the west side of the resort had a beautiful bay of calm water and fine sand but had the tendancy to get extreamly hot because it lacked the breeze like Cocoa beach always had.
After a great day exploring the beaches and swimming in the ocean we headed to Shirley Heights. We listened to the Steel drum band play and watched the sunset, which would have been spectacular but hindered by all the clouds. The views were still beautiful and the I loved seeing the starry sky after dark.
The band was great and Aly and Emers danced along. We didn't get to stay late enough for the Reggae band which was too bad because some of the guys stayed and said it was good.

After getting back from Shirley Heights we had dinner at the Dockside restaurant and listened to Kevin's dad Paul tell stories (he's a great story teller and so adorable!) Emerson slept during dinner so didn't want to sleep when Travis and Aly called it a night so Emer and I went back the Dockside to sit around and chat with our friends some more. Once they headed to Karoke night I took Emers back to our room for the night.

Alyssa's Preschool Halloween Party. Aly is loving Preschool and her teachers Miss Monika and Miss Teresa are wonderful! Right now Alyssa's favorite friend in class is Evelyn :)
